Support work is often solo work. Instead of a coordinator calling around trying to figure out where a worker even is, a live map answers that question immediately, so the actual welfare check — a phone call, a call to the participant's home, whatever's needed — can start straight away instead of after a location scavenger hunt.
There's a second, less obvious benefit for families: accurate ETAs. "Your worker is 8 minutes away" is a small thing, but it matters to a family managing a participant's routine, especially where predictability itself is part of the support need. Live tracking makes that kind of specific, honest update possible instead of a vague "they're on their way."
It's worth being direct about the boundary here: this is operational and safety tooling, not a performance-monitoring tool aimed at second-guessing workers. The distinction matters for how it's introduced to a team — framed and used as a safety net, it tends to be welcomed rather than resented, because most support workers have, at some point, wished someone back at the office could see where they were.
